The Kamaki Hedge Shears 1050 are for the gardeners who understand that the difference between a hedge and a masterpiece is about three millimetres. Crafted in Hyogo, Japan, by a manufacturer that has been perfecting their trade since 1876, these shears carry over a century of steel-working heritage. The SK Stainless steel blades are hard, sharp, and designed for those who treat pruning as an art form rather than a chore.

A note for the devoted: Japanese steel is incredibly hard, which allows for a superior edge, but it can be brittle. Avoid twisting or applying uneven pressure—let the steel do the work it was born to do.

Care

Because this is high-quality Japanese steel, it demands a certain level of respect. To keep that edge surgical, avoid the cardinal sins: no cutting wire, metal, stone, or plastic. Cut diagonally across stems to work with the fibres, use the base of the blades for heavier work, and for heaven’s sake, keep them clean. Dirty shears clog, and sticky blades are a frustration you don’t need. Treat them to a regular session with a Clean Mate, a #1000 grit stone, and a coating of Camellia Oil. They’ll thank you for it.
