Niwaki CAMO arm covers, the limited-run camo we first spotted at the Chelsea Flower Show, Niwaki gloves, and a pair of Sakagen Flower Scissors from the Summer Edition, in Lavender, Grey, Smoky Aqua or Charcoal. Invisible in the border. Impossible to lose on the bench.

The Sakagen are the ikebana scissors, made in Sanjo, with fluorine coated blades that glide through a stem and resin handles shaped for a whole afternoon of it. There is a knack: index finger outside the handle, resting in the little indent. It feels like an insider move because it is. They are the first thing you reach for on cut flowers and they will manage light woody pruning when nobody is looking.

The arm covers do what all Niwaki arm covers do, cotton from wrist to elbow with a ribbed cuff and an elasticated top, except these ones disappear into the hedge. The gloves are the thin, grippy ones at forty grams a pair, so the stem you are about to cut still feels like a stem.

For the gardener who takes the cutting garden seriously and does not want to be seen doing it.

Materials & Care

• Scissors: wipe clean and dry after use. Never cut wire, metal, stone or plastic. Cut on the diagonal, base of the blades for anything woody, no twisting.
• Arm covers: cotton. Wash cold, air dry.
• Gloves: nylon, spandex and nitrile. Hand wash cold, air dry.
