How to use it:

EM1 is ready to go straight from the bottle, but if you want to really kickstart the microbial party, add equal parts molasses to your solution. It acts as a high-energy food source for the microbes.

• The Standard Drench: Dilute between 1/100 and 1/1000. For a standard 10-litre watering can, add 10ml of EM1 and thoroughly soak your soil and plants (covers roughly 10m2).
• The Leaf Spray: Dilute at 1/100 (10ml per litre) and mist both sides of the leaves every week or two from planting out through to harvest. Spray in the evening or on a dull morning, since sun and heat knock the microbes about before they settle. The idea is to keep the leaf surface crowded with friendly microbes so the unfriendly ones struggle to find a seat. Tomatoes, cucumbers and courgettes repay the effort most. This is maintenance, not medicine. If mildew or blight is already on the leaf, reach for the right Grosafe product and keep spraying EM1 once it is under control.
• Compost Boost: Apply regularly to your heap to enhance activity and manage those "earthy" aromas.

Pro Tip: For the truly dedicated, EM1 can be combined with fish or seaweed-based liquid fertilisers for extra microbial fuel. It can also be expanded via a secondary process using 5% EM1, 5% molasses and 90% water. Because in this garden, more is definitely more.
