These traditional Japanese lopping shears feature forged carbon steel blades, and stout White Oak handles.

A pair of loppers you'll be reaching for to take care of thick branches. Suitable for branches up to 2.5cm/1" (although as some species are harder than others treat that as a general guide). Remember to cut bigger branches at a 45˚angle!

CARING FOR YOUR TOOLS

To keep your tools in good condition and ensure they last for many years of use, they require some simple but regular maintenance. Here are some usage & care tips, to help you get the most out of your tools...

Usage:

Japanese steel is hard and sharp. To avoid chips and preserve the steel edge, do not cut wire, metal, stone, or plastic.
Do not twist or apply uneven pressure
It’s better to cut diagonally across branches (not straight across), so you cut along the fibres
For heavier cuts, make sure you’re using the base of the blades (not the tips)

Care:

Remove leaf resin, rust and gunk with a Crean Mate or Rust Eraser and water
Dry, wipe over with Camellia Oil and store in a dry place
Sharpen when needed (secateurs can be sharpened every couple of weeks, shears & topiary clippers after every use to see an incredible difference).
