The Toyama Hamono T-33 Mini Secateurs are for those of us who can't walk through the garden—or the greenhouse, or the florist shop—without a quiet urge to intervene. Small enough to live in your back pocket but far too capable to be called a novelty, these are the ultimate "just in case" tool for the obsessive pruner.
Hand-forged by Toyama Hamono in Sanjo, Japan, they pack a surprising amount of power into a compact 140mm frame. The steel blades are surgical-grade sharp, making them perfect for delicate flower arranging or precise greenhouse work. Each pair comes with its own leather sheath that will age, patina, and tell the story of every season you spend together.
The Rules of Engagement:
Japanese steel is legendary for its edge, but it doesn't suffer fools. To keep these in peak condition, avoid the big "nos": no wire, no metal, and absolutely no twisting. Cut diagonally across the fibres to respect the plant and the tool. For heavier work, use the base of the blades rather than the tips. Remember—the harder the steel, the more brittle it can be, so treat them like the precision instruments they are.
