The Usual Suspects
The Usual Suspects
The ones you would grab if the shed were on fire.
Ask any gardener which tools they actually use and the list gets short fast. Something to cut with, something to dig with, gloves, and somewhere to keep them. The Usual Suspects is that list. Pick a pouch, a pair of secateurs, a weeder and your gloves, one of each, and take 10% off the lot.
Choose your pouch
- 3 Pocket Tool Pouch: heavy duty canvas, reinforced with rivets, fabric mesh at the base of the pockets so the dirt falls through, adjustable belt with an easy-release clasp.
- Bugg Tool Pouch, 3 Pocket, Denim: 420gsm denim with NZ military grade khaki binding. Worn across the body or as a belt, Small or Large strap. Designed by Sally, made in Auckland.
- Bugg Tool Pouch, 3 Pocket, Khaki: the khaki Bugg pouch. Designed by Sally, made in Auckland.
Choose your secateurs
- Kamaki Pruner P900H: 170g, 10mm cutting capacity, hard chrome bypass blade, wrist loop. The light one. Made in Japan.
- Okatsune Bypass Pruners: 180mm, 200mm or 210mm, hardened to 60 to 61 Rockwell C. Made in Hiroshima.
Choose your weeder
- Garden Hoe: the hand hoe for scraping weeds off the surface before they settle in.
- Nisaku Hori Hori Weeder 170mm: the Japanese cult classic. Concave stainless blade, serrated down one side, so it digs, cuts, weeds, plants, and levers out the dandelion you have been quietly losing to since July.
- Sneeboer Weeding Fork, 2 Tine: two prongs for prising out deep roots. Made in the Netherlands.
Choose your gloves
- The Dominant Set: a spare glove for the hand that does all the work. Right or left handed.
- Niwaki Gardening Gloves: sized 7 to 10.
Nothing here is clever. All of it is the answer.
