Weathervane Snapper
Weathervane Snapper
The one that didn’t get away.
In the hierarchy of local legends, the Snapper holds a special place. It’s more than a fish; it’s a weekend prophecy. Whether you’re celebrating a personal best or simply need a visual reminder of where you’d rather be on a Saturday morning, our Snapper Weathervane is the ultimate garden trophy.
Handmade right here in New Zealand, these aren't your mass-produced garden ornaments. We use traditional sand-cast aluminium and brass—materials chosen for their weight and longevity—finished with a sleek black powder coat. It’s built to withstand the salt, the spray, and whatever else the elements throw at it, looking better with every season.
We’ve obsessed over the mechanics, too. The movement is remarkably smooth, and we’ve welded a plate to the base stem to ensure installation doesn't become a weekend-long project. It’s premium, it’s unique, and it’s a proper nod to the "perfect catch."
Installation: Getting it Right
- Choose a prominent, open spot where it can catch the breeze.
- Grab some non-corrosive bolts or screws (the right ones for your specific surface).
- Position the bottom plate. Fix one screw loosely, use a spirit level to ensure the stem is perfectly vertical, then secure all fixings.
- Open the N.S.E.W. indicators and push the Lock Washer into place to form the cross.
- Slide the NSEW onto the stem. Use a compass to find North, align it, and tighten the lock bolt.
- The Pro Move: Apply a little grease to the axle before sliding the top section on.
Note: Ensure the ball bearing slides up inside the axle to rest on top of the shaft. This keeps the movement whisper-quiet and prevents unnecessary wear.
